One of the Air Force Association aims is to help veterans and their families get through trying times and will continue helping as long as it is needed. We are always there.
We have a robust working relationship with the Department of Veterans Affairs and together with other ESOs provide essential supplementary engagement with government services to promote veteran support and concerns.
Serving RAAF members are encouraged to participate and adopt the Air Force Association as their equivalent to a workplace union.? All our services are free of charge.
The objective of these pages is to create awareness for Australian Defence Force veterans of the services and entitlements available through the Department of Veterans? Affairs (DVA).
Services available through DVA include
Our advocates can assist you while interacting with or submitting claims to the Department of Veterans' Affairs as well as appealing rejected claims. This includes acting as an Advocate at the Veterans' Review Board. ?We advise you to reach out to one of our or another ESO Advocate before you interact with DVA. Accredited advocates may be found with the following link. Insert your postcode and search for them in your locality here https://www.advocateregister.org.au/
The Department of Veterans? Affairs also has Veteran Support Officers located in over 40 serving bases throughout Australia.? A Veteran Support Officer is an adviser who can help you work out what DVA benefits you can get. ?They can help you to submit a claim before you leave the Australian Defence Force. ?However, we advise our 3rd party Advocates are a better choice as they will be available to you as you progress through life and are not location-specific.
