Listen to Barry Kelly as he relates his stories about Mirage Fighters,  and being a Fighter Combat Instructor,

Capture his life on F18 Hornets with carrier qualifications at Strike Fighter Squadron VFA-125, also known as the "Rough Raiders" based at Naval Air Station Lemoore.  And then Exchange duties at Marine Corp Air Station El Toro, California.

Listen to his reflections on being a RAAF Hornet low level display pilot.

Then a change of pace as he flies with Cathay Pacific Airways in Hong Kong.

And finally,  Boeing E7A Wedgetail pilot trainer.

Barry Says:

I liked:

  1. Being selected for conversion in the US as the first Australian F18 Hornet exchange pilot with a US Marine Corp active duty operational squadron.
  2. Being part of a team rescue effort of a close friend after an ejection.
  3. Being an F18 low level display pilot 1987 – 1988 including displays in New Zealand, PNG and the Philippines
  4. The opportunity to meet people that have become lifelong friends and mentors
  5. The opportunity to cruise at twice the speed of sound where the sky is black during the day ......and do it alone.
