Served 21 years in the Permanent Air Force. Served in 2 conflicts: Malaysian Emergency as ground crew and Vietnam as aircrew Received US Air Medal for service whilst in Vietnam. Served in Malaysia during Indonesian Confrontation. Re-mustered to Hygiene Inspector, married and returned to Malaysia and then to Command Hygiene at Glenbrook.
Undertook University training to become civilian Health and Building Surveyor and completed multiple Degrees with Honours in Building, Engineering, Environmental Health, Local Government Management etc. Appointed Associate Member of Royal Society of Health (London). Member of the Aust. Institute of Building Surveyors. Member of Aust. Institute of Health Surveyors.
Retired from RAAF and transitioned to Local Government serving for 33 years in Senior Management positions with Woollahra, Blue Mountains, North Sydney, Concord and Burwood Councils. Planned and set up Council Recycling as now currently carried out in NSW. Planned and founded the Local Government Recycling Co-operative Ltd. exporting paper and cardboard to Singapore, NZ, Philippines during period of glut collections.
Level 3 Advocate for Veterans for Pensions and Welfare claims for 15+ years. Trained Advocates for Training Information Program for Department of Veterans Affairs for 6+ years.
Current Member of Regional Management Group covering NSW SA and WA with Department of Veterans Affairs Advocates Training and Development Program National Management group. Mentor to Advocates undergoing training.
Current Member of Sydney Cenotaph Dawn Service Trust. Retired Chair of 3 Standards Australia fibre board advisory committees and retired member Swimming Pool Fencing Standards. Chair of Balmain Cove Community Association for 8 years and current Chair of Balmain Shores Community Association for last 10 years.
