WOFF Ivan Petrovic was accepted into the Royal Australian Air Force in January 1991 as a Radio Technician Apprentice and undertook two years of training at RAAF School of Radio in Laverton, Melbourne. On completion of his training WOFF Petrovic was posted to the Laminar Flow Room, 503 WG Richmond and worked on various aircraft instruments including P3C Flight Directory Indicators and Hercules Rate Gyro systems.

WOFF Petrovic was promoted to CPL in 1996 and posted to Number 77 SQN, Williamtown in July 1997 where he worked on FA 18 Hornet Radar, Communications and Navigation systems. During his posting to 77 SQN, WOFF Petrovic was deployed to Diego Garcia on Operation Slipper shortly following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Soon after his return from deployment, WOFF Petrovic was posted to 78WG Field Training Flight later becoming 278 SQN Technical Training Flight to undertake an Instructional role on various FA 18 Avionics systems. During this time WOFF Petrovic was heavily involved with the development and incorporation of the Integrated Maintenance Training System used for simulated operation and fault finding Aircraft and Avionics systems by Technicians posted to Hornet SQN’s.

In 2005 WOFF Petrovic undertook Military Skills Instructor training which resulted in a posting to Australian Defence Force Academy on promotion to SGT in January 2006. WOFF Petrovic completed two years as a Divisional SGT in Air Force SQN before accepting a posting to No1 Recruit Training Unit, Wagga as a Section Commander within Recruit Flight. In 2009 WOFF Petrovic was posted to RAAF School of Technical Training where he worked in various roles including an Instructor at Avionics Training Section, Commanding Officers Operations Coordinator and SNCOIC Military Skills Section. WOFF Petrovic was then promoted to FSGT and returned back to No 1 Recruit Training Unit in 2012 to undertake the role of Flight Adjutant, two Recruit flight.

In 2015 WOFF Petrovic was accepted to and successfully graduated the Warrant Officer Disciplinary course and posted to Officers’ Training school as School Warrant Officer in Apr 2016. Warrant Officer Petrovic also undertook the role of Base Warrant Officer RAAF Base East Sale during that same year. In 2019, Warrant Officer Petrovic deployed as part of EAOU 5 on Operation Accordion as the Precinct WOFF AMAB  ADAB. Warrant Officer Petrovic is currently posted as the Base Warrant Officer Richmond.     

WOFF Petrovic is married to Nicole who is employed as a Physical Training Instructor. They have three Sons which keep both of them extremely busy. Ivan enjoys spending time with the family, Boating, Camping, Fishing, and keeping fit through involvement with Defence and Civilian Touch football competitions.
